Marking the culmination of a joint project between Nanjing Red Cross Blood Center, Jiangsu Libo Medicine Biotechnology Research Institute, and National Health Commission Key Laboratory of Antibody Techniques, Nanjing Medical University, we are delighted to announce the opening of the "Key Laboratory of Transfusion Medicine of Nanjing Red Cross Blood Center" (hereinafter known as "Laboratory").
The Laboratory will accelerate the development of transfusion medicine, solve challenging problems in blood collection and supply, and realize the goal of "talent cultivation, ability improvement, and scientific and technological innovation."
On December 5, 2023, the unveiling ceremony was officially held in Nanjing Red Cross Blood Center. The ceremony was hosted by Qiang Fu, Director of the Laboratory, and remarks were delivered by the appropriate representatives: Ying Xu, Deputy Director of Department of Science and Education, Nanjing Health Commission, Chun Zhang, Director of Nanjing Red Cross Blood Center, with members of the Laboratory Academic Committee and Management Committee and scientific research experts in attendance.
The Laboratory plaque was unveiled by Huifang Zhou, Secretary of Nanjing Red Cross Blood Center, Yuping Chen, Director of Jiangsu Libo Medicine Biotechnology Research Institute, and Zhenqing Feng, Director of National Health Commission Key Laboratory of Antibody Techniques, Nanjing Medical University.
Following the ceremony, the Laboratory's first Academic Committee Meeting was hosted by Jiwu Gong, Director of the Laboratory Academic Committee. Firstly, Qiang Fu, Deputy Director of Nanjing Red Cross Blood Center and Director of the Laboratory reported details on the Laboratory's research capabilities and facilities, and on synopsis of the development, team members, key work, and transformation of scientific and technological achievements of the Laboratory. He led members of the Academic Committee to inspect the laboratory first-hand. Then Committee members carried out a discussion on the research contents, research platforms, research avenues, and overall development goals of the Laboratory, putting forward valuable suggestions. Finally, Director Jiwu Gong read out a summary of the comments and indicated further expectations for the Laboratory's future.
At the meeting's end, Directors Yuping Chen and Qiang Fu extended their gratitude to all attendees, adding that the Laboratory will provide an opportunity for the promotion of key specialties, cultivation of talent teams, and improvement of educational and scientific research capabilities through close cooperation and coordinated development from the three founding organizations.
